Postcount is an absolute no, and explaining why would be...yeah. Ridicolous.
And define these other plugins? If it's based on a postcount, it's a definitive NO. It just encourages spamming.
I don't see your point. I don't see why it would be necessary. I don't see how it could encourage anything different from a general lack of quality in posts.
Maybe I'm just blind, ain't I?

Does it have to be necessary if people enjoy it? Take an office building. It doesn't HAVE to have paintings, but people ad them because they're nice, most people enjoy them, and they really do no harm. As for spamming, I'm sure me and Ox can whip up a way for posts to only count if they have more than a certain amount of words, which will eliminate some of the spam. Besides, I would think that most of us here are mature individuals. As for the other plugins, I only looked at them very briefly, so I'll have to check a little deeper later on. They're not exactly my priority.

A forum isn't an office building.
A forum must be functional and have a clean layout. Adding unnecessary stuff will just make it look 1)Unprofessional 2) Messy as hell, thus only making loading pages or navigating thru the forum a more tedious process. And this doesn't go for stars; it goes for a lot of things.
That is not the point. The point is that post count shouldn't be held in any regard. You shouldn't have stars being added to your name counting how many posts you had. While an effective anti spam system could be implemented, it'd overall be unnecessary without any reward to spamming.
Get what I'm saying? You can put rangers in a park to make sure people don't go and shoot wolves to have their fur, but if you remove the bounty you have on wolf fur then the rangers are unnecessary.
Again, it has absolutely no point. Paints are harmless; stars aren't completely. Even if you remove spamming, it will still add an unneeded degree of distinction between users. Do we really need that?
I mean, you said they don't do anything. So where's the problem in removing them? They're not even that beautiful to look upon.

To be recognized as an Elite. Also, you seem to be throwing around the word "messy" a lot. MESSY would be if the stars were on top of someone's title. There's nothing messy about using a mechanic as intended; if anything, the blank, open space between the custom title and usergroup annoys me a lot.

Elitism brought whites over blacks in America. Elitism brings straight people up and gay people down. Elitism was the prime form of goverments like Nazism and Fascism. ELitism was the starting point of many wars. Elitism just adds useless contrast in general. Do we really need that?
It's messy because it's essentially an image above the avatar. What is clean about it? It annoys you, sure, but you aren't everyone in this forum. And the majority don't seem to like it.

Are you seriously comparing a little pixel star and the words "Senior Member" to NAZISM?! Also, I still don't see what makes it messy. And finally, I'm getting a little suspicious as the negative votecount seems to be increasing while the members who actually voted remain the same with no increase. Care to explain?

No, I was saying how elitism in general creates contrast, and providing examples for that. I apologize if I haven't been clear enough.
Let me try with the simplest example I can think of: take a piece of paper and accurately write on it the first things you can think off, then draw in the middle whatever drawing you can think of. Now take a bright red market and start scribbling stars above the avatar. Now, is it an orderly and beautiful to see sheet? Not at all.
I'm not sure of what you expect me to explain, apart from yourself being paranoid. 11 people voted, there are 8 "no" votes and 3 "yes" votes. Maybe members switching their votes?
