This has been the source of major argument amongst the admin team, so I think it's time you, the community, decides a tiebreaker.
Do you want cosmetic features including, but not limited to: ranking stars, custom rank titles, colored rank titles, etc.
Let this be a purely community vote without administrative interference.
EDIT: Roxx, I can see that you voted, but unfortunately it won't show me what you voted for. Nice try.

I won't vote due to the "Purely Community", but I'll just say that there would be some I like and some I don't.
Not a big fan of those "ranking stars" or "colored rank titles" but I'm okay with custom rank titles and the such.

i hope administratives don't mean mods
but uh, I'd think that custom titles would be good, with mods having a bold version or something. Stars don't fit, as people think there's a meaning to the number. But, I would say in any case, that you should put a legend at the bottom of the index, for reference.

Administrative means mods too.
Also technically, I'd have no problems against different name colours, but I'd be completely against anything more than that. Simply because it
1. Makes the overall forum messy. 2. Sets unneeded distinctions between members and administration. Really, a different name colour is more than enough.

One thing that Zeta forgot to mention is that it's specifically the staff that'll be getting these stars'n'stuff.

First, why do we need member tiers in the first place?

First, why do we need member tiers in the first place? 1. It gives people something to strive for; an objective 2. It can help new members to see AT A GLANCE who is experienced with the forum and can show them the ropes 3. I really don't think anyone is going to be jealous about member tiers; it grants ZERO extra benefits 4. It's fun, harmless, and lots of forums do it without issue. WHY NOT?

How would members advance through ranks? Postcount by default, but I've seen some plugins we can implement that let you do it by different methods.
