Customizing Weapons
Now, before you go all--
"Hey, someone suggested this before, it was a bad idea!"
"Didn't you prove this idea was bad in the previous forum?"
"Buddy, this idea sucks. Case closed."
... that, I think I actually have a way to make this work.
1. It would have limits on how much you can increase it's stats.
This would prevent SMGs from turning into machine guns, shotguns turning into sniper rifles, etc. For example, SMGs could have their damage doubled, but their rate of fire could only be increased by 1.2, while shotguns are the opposite, et cetera.
2. It would require a weapon you already have, and customizing it this way could destroy the weapon. Weapons with already all-round highish/great stats have a higher chance of being destroyed.
This would present a risk to making a great weapon you have even more powerful. It would encourage to instead use it on a decent weapon that you merely want to buff a little.
3. Increasing stats would result in a higher chance of the weapon being destroyed, while decreasing stats would semi-counter the increased chance.
This would encourage to modify guns to your playstyle, instead of just making guns more powerful. Say, I find a Patriot I like, but with not enough damage, and too much accuracy. I would increase the damage, and lower the accuracy, resulting in the kind of weapon I want.
4. Attachments can not be equipped on them.
Duh.
5. Having a custom weapon would result in the shop (and slot machine if it'll come back) having more powerful and varied weapons until the custom is replaced, and the weapons would be around the level you got your custom weapon from.
This would mean you'd definitely find a weapon to replace your custom later, which would mean you wouldn't just stick to your custom forever, and because all of the weapons would be the same level as you were when you initially made your custom until you replace it, you wouldn't benefit from just having the custom in your inventory forever.
Default Weapons
I got this idea from a post I saw in the previous forums.
There would be a section separate from the shop, where you can buy weapons with their default stats (in other words: non-randomized), adjusted to your level, and cost less than randomized weapons. This would be great for trying out weapons, and if you replace a weapon with another one that turns out to suck, you can simply buy the non-randomized version of the gun you replaced. For obvious reasons, though, you wouldn't be able to equip them with attachments, or customize them.
